Alie and David are one of the sweetest couples I’ve ever met! And when they found out that their dream wedding at Kai Kai Farm had to be postponed because of our current social distancing efforts, I’m sure they were just devastated. My heart breaks for all the couples who are in the same boat – trying to figure out how to reschedule their weddings. I was almost in the same position myself! As a Florida wedding photographer, it’s been a devastating time for me as a business, but it’s nothing compared to what my couples have to go through both financially and emotionally!
So sadly, Alie and David didn’t get the dream wedding they thought they would. But it’s not all bad news! Instead of being surrounded by all of their friends and family, they decided to have an intimate, private ceremony in their very own back yard, in their brand new house!
And one of my favorite things about Alie and David is their love of Disney and vintage charm. You’ll see that Alie’s bouquet has a tiny Mickey charm – as well as their matching set of his & hers mouse ear hats! So stinking cute. I was able to see some of their decorations for the new wedding date and it just made me even more excited to see these two celebrate with their friends and family in November.
Side note – not only is Alie an amazingly gorgeous bride but she’s an insanely talented artist! You NEED to check out her work on Instagram at @alieletters right now! ?
So, what sounds like it would have been a sad circumstance was still so joyful and heartwarming. We set up a “first look” for David and Alie in front of their handmade altar, and when he saw his beautiful bride for the first time, he was so overcome with love and emotion that the tears started right away! Isn’t that all you need to say “I do” to the person you love most in the world? I think so!
After the intimate ceremony, instead of a grand celebration, they opted for a short, sunset “just married” photoshoot of their at their wedding venue, Kai Kai Farm. Fortunately, we were the only ones on the property – so there was more than enough space to stay safe and distant. I am so grateful that I was able to provide them with these very special images on what was still a beautiful, meaningful afternoon.
Don’t worry, we’ll be picking up right where we left off later this year to do it the right way!
