There’s something special about photographing a wedding in your hometown. And when the couple is just as kind, grounded, and joyful as Madison and Mike? That’s when the magic really happens.
From the moment we started talking about their wedding day vision, I knew this was going to be one of those weddings that just fits. The kind that’s effortlessly elegant, centered on family and faith, and full of real, meaningful moments.
From an Instagram DM to “I Do”
Madison and Mike’s love story began with a message. Mike slid into Madison’s DMs on New Year’s Eve, and about a week later, he made the drive down to Jupiter to take her on their first date. They met at Square Grouper and ended up talking for six hours. I mean, that’s when you know.
They both grew up in Vero Beach and had mutual friends, but had never officially met until that night. From there, everything just clicked. Mike said he knew by their second date that Madison was the one. They were sitting by the water in West Palm eating breakfast sandwiches, and he just looked over at her and thought, “This is it.” Madison said there wasn’t one moment… it was a collection of little ones in those early months that made her feel sure. Everything with him felt easy.
Their relationship is one of those that feels like it’s been there forever (in the best way).
A Ceremony Rooted in Faith at Celebration Grove
The ceremony took place at Celebration Grove, part of Pillar Community Church in Vero Beach. It’s such a peaceful location, surrounded by trees and that soft Florida light filtering through the branches. The ceremony itself was heartfelt and deeply personal, officiated by Mike’s pastor.
They kept things traditional with a processional that included grandparents and family, but added meaningful touches like taking communion together during the ceremony. I love that even with a first look earlier in the day, Mike was still completely overcome seeing Madison walk down the aisle.
And speaking of Madison, she wore the most timeless gown with a button back and a surprise shawl-style overlay that she added just before the ceremony. It was such a sweet way to bring a little “wow” moment to the aisle even after their first look.
She also wore her grandmother’s pearl and diamond bracelet, which added a really beautiful touch of legacy and sentiment. Mike kept things classic in a black tux, and their wedding party matched the elegant vibe in black and white with soft green accents. The bridesmaids wore dresses from Show Me Your Mumu, and everything tied together with lush, romantic florals by Sarandipity Floral.
The Portraits That Told Their Story
We took their portraits both at Celebration Grove and later at Quail Valley River Club, and honestly, I could’ve photographed these two all day. They were so natural together – sweet, fun, and completely in the moment.
One of my favorite things we did was carve out time for a second round of portraits after the ceremony, once Madison had put on her shawl overlay. It gave us a chance to capture that surprise element and gave them a quiet moment together before heading into the party.
We also made time for family formals outdoors, and I’m so glad we did. Madison and Mike are really close with their families, and they made sure to include their grandparents, nieces, siblings, and even extended family in thoughtful ways. I especially loved the shot of Madison’s grandparents walking down the aisle together. It was such a sweet moment to witness.
Elegant Waterfront Reception at Quail Valley River Club
After the ceremony, Madison and Mike hopped into a classic getaway car and headed to their reception at Quail Valley in Indian River Shores. This venue is such a hidden gem. Located right along the Intracoastal in Vero Beach, it has this timeless, coastal elegance that fits perfectly with a formal black and white wedding.
Guests were greeted with signature cocktails, custom napkins and cups designed by Sincerely Rachel Co., and all the thoughtful little touches that Madison carefully planned. The reception space was sophisticated but never stuffy… elevated, but still warm and inviting. Just like them.
One of the most meaningful details was their cake table, which featured framed photos of both their parents and grandparents cutting their wedding cakes. It was such a beautiful way to honor the marriages that came before them and set the tone for a night full of love and legacy.
First Dances, Sunset Light, and a Boat Send-Off
After a seated dinner with a choice of beef or fish, they shared their first dance to “I’m Gonna Love You” by Cody Johnson and Carrie Underwood. It was followed by toasts, a sweet father-daughter dance, and Mike’s dance with his mom. You could tell just how much these two are loved by everyone in the room.
And just when we thought the light couldn’t get better, we snuck out to the docks at Quail for sunset portraits. The water was calm, the light was soft, and it gave them a little breather from the party to just be with each other. Those portraits ended up being some of my favorites from the entire day.
Their grand exit was one for the books. Guests lined the dock with ribbon wands as Madison and Mike boarded the Irish Rover, a small boat that carried them across the water to The Pointe where they’d spend their wedding night. It was such a romantic, cinematic moment – quiet, joyful, and just so them.
A Wedding That Felt Just Right
Madison and Mike’s wedding was the kind of day that reminds me why I do this. It was filled with heart, tradition, and a kind of joy that you can feel in every photo. From the classic black and white details to the faith-centered ceremony and elegant riverfront celebration, every piece of their day felt intentional and completely true to who they are.
